The microchip fascinates me - given that if it could work perfectly with our bioreceptors and such it would never need replacing and it'd be good. Actually, the truth is a little bit more scary. The convenience of such a microchip would be astounding.

The benefits are exceedingly obvious, from simple monetary transactions to medical records and data readily available for identification and medical treatment. This in turn would speed up the rate of our lives (not necessarially a good thing! I personally find that I need days off or else I'll explode). Remember Pastor Shane's sermon last sunday? (Pastor Shane McCarthy spoke at BCAC last sunday, for all you non-BCACers who read my blog :P) He talked about instant gratification and the negative effects that it had on our society in general. The microchip would allow us to desire more and quicker. It's a simple thing, really.
There are two major problems with microchipping. Firstly, the lack of privacy, and secondly, the bible talks about microchips (OR SOMETHING EXTREMELY SIMILAR) in the book of Revelation. It may not be a microchip in itself (we'll see in the future) but, within the end time passages, the bible talks about a certain 'Mark of the Beast'. Its properties are rather similar to the microchip, which is slightly worrying.
Read: Revelation 13:16-17 - "He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name". The number, we are told later, is either 666 or 616 (depending on your translation). Many Christians are wary of the fact that Revelation later states that those with the mark of the beast have chosen death.
Maybe I'm just overanalysing, but I'm pretty sure that given the events of the world currently, we can still say we haven't moved into the Tribulation period yet. And depending whether your view of the rapture is a pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, or a post-tribulation one, we should all be taken up to meet God before it all takes place. Personally, I'm hoping for a pre-tribulation rapture, because then we get to avoid the seven years of Tribulation.
Since we aren't (or at least, I don't think we are) in the Tribulation yet, then Microchips aren't a problem to us. Keep your eyes peeled though!

I agree, I do hope that we'll be whipped up into heaven b4 all those intense suffereings/ battles take place! But I don't really know, haven't investigated it. What intrigues me is: how's to sky will be rolled back like a scroll. Like, what's behind the sky. :P
