So, we've just finished studying 1 Timothy in men's group at uni. As part of the conclusion, we were asked "if someone asked what you studied in 1 Timothy, what would you say?" I'm writing this more for my own benefit, but it *should* hopefully be a nice and succinct summary of this awesome little book!
1 Timothy is a letter written by the apostle Paul to his protege, Timothy, who is currently (at the time of writing... haha) based in Ephesus. In this letter, he seeks to instruct Timothy on how to lead and mentor the church in Ephesus, as their Christian walk did not get off to a very good start. There are instructions in this letter on the structure of the church, widows, money and leadership.
I think 1 Timothy is a pretty awesome book, myself. It's quite in-depth and up-front about everything - and it's also really good to read and remind yourself how to live more like Paul and Timothy. These guys are great examples of the Christian life, and we should seek to emulate them more :)
